Translation fees depend on factors such as volume, content, along with other factors, so please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. If you send the item to be translated by fax or mail we can quote you a price free of charge.
Method of Calculating Translation Fees
- Company policy
1) For a translation from any foreign language into Japanese, the basic fee applied is per 400 characters of the finished Japanese manuscript (product).
2) For a translation from Japanese into any foreign language the basic fee applied is per 400 characters of the original Japanese manuscript (document).
The number pages are then totaled for the final price.
(In the event of a request for a translation from one foreign language (excluding Japanese) into another foreign language (excluding Japanese) the basic fee will be applied per A4 page (230 words) of the finished product. - For special cases, patents, research papers, medical papers, translations with word limits, the charges may vary.
- For rush orders there may be up to a 30% rush order fee added to the price of the translation. Please contact Erklaren for a quotation.
- Delivery of goods: as a principle we deliver a print out copy of the translated manuscript and floppy disk. (or send the file via e-mail) Within possible limits you can deal with the selection of software, and in ordinary cases there is no additional charge for software.
- In necessary cases such as, the creation of large amounts of tables and special layouts, there may be a separate charge for creating tables or special layouts.

Interpretation fees depend on circumstances such as, the requested language, the level of the interpreter, the necessary number of people and whether or not travel is in involved, etc., Please contact our representitve for a free quotation.
Method of Calculation of Interpretation Fees
- Interpretation fees for one day, where one day is defined as: 9:00 to 17:30, with an 7.5 hour working restriction applied (8.5 hours minus a one hour break), so the actual working time is with in seven hours. Early morning and late evening interpreting requests will be subject to different fees. Please contact an Erklaren representitive for a quotation.
- In the event of half days, morning or afternoon, the work schedule is restricted to 3 hours for the morning session (9:00-12:00) and 4 and a half hours for the afternoon session (13:00 - 17:30). In the event an interpreter for midday is necessary (12 noon) you will be charged for one full day.
- In the case of simultaneous translation, usually there will be 3-4 interpreters in charge for the day, and 2-3 for half day.
In addition equipment is also necessary for simultaneous translations, so please consult with us. - In the case of successive interpreters, usually there will be 2 interpreters in charge for one day, and 1 for half day.
- Dispatch interpreters are also available for accompaniment on business trips and trips overseas. Please contact our representitive for a free quotation.
- In the event of cancellation within one week of the requested date a cancellation fee will be incurred.
4-7 days before the requested date: | 30 percent cancellation charge of the total estimated fee will be charged |
2-3 days before the requested date: | a 50 percent cancellation charge of the total estimated fee will be charged |
The day before or day of the request: | 100 percent cancellation charge of the total estimated fee will be charged. |
Furthermore cancellations are only acknowledged during business hours.
